Creation of Humans in Islam: Purpose of Life & Teachings of Prophets (Quran Explained)

Creation & History of Humans and Teachings of Prophets:

1. Creation of Humans

There are two key points of creation of humans:

Humans were given the power of speech for sharing. And they were created in a pair (like others for reproduction) but were physically weaker (for testing) as compared to other creatures on Earth.

Example: animals don’t need clothes for protection from weather, but humans do. Also, human babies need more care for a longer time to grow.

| “We have certainly created man in the best form; Then We return him to the lowest of the low.” At-Tin (95:4–5)

| “He created man, [and] taught him speech.” Ar-Rahman (55:3–4)

| “And We created you in pairs.” An-Naba (78:8)

2. How does this creation style make life a test?

Humans’ weak bodies created complex dependencies on each other for survival; they built tools to survive: clothing, homes, trades, etc. But their speaking power allowed discussions, teaching, and organizing their lifestyle with earth’s environment.

“You will surely be tested in your wealth and yourselves…” Al-Imran (3:186)

It can also be seen that every single creature on the earth has a familiar body according to its living environment without any essentials, but humans are not like them.

Important Question

If humans evolved only through natural processes, it raises the question of why they became physically weaker than many animals while at the same time developing advanced abilities like complex speech?

3. Human Life on Earth:

Humans live until death with reproductive bodies, like other creatures on earth. Over time, humans’ population grew and spread on earth; they observed, learned, and developed multiple languages, inventions, symbolic writing, and social skills with the power of speech. And keep sharing to the next.

Population growth also brings major social and religious conflicts that arise after gaining knowledge.

| “Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Book did not differ except after knowledge had come to them — out of jealousy and animosity between themselves……” Aal-‘Imran (3:19)

How do Quran summarize the creation and history of humans, diversity and purpose of life on earth?

4. Divine Guidance through Prophets:

The Creator sent guidance by angels to chosen individuals (Prophets) to guide humans. Earlier Prophets also taught skills to survive.

| “Mankind was [of] one religion [community]. And Allah sent the prophets as bringers of good tidings and warners and sent down with them the Book in truth to judge between the people concerning that in which they differed…” Al-Baqarah (2:213)

4.1. How Prophets applied social justice rules, for survival and reproduction:

4.1.1. Primary Education:

After educating Tawhid (right belief), they were mainly focused on educating communication ethics and laws for humans’ reproduction cycle. They aware everyone with kindness (because humans live and die while learning)

Hadith:

  • “Whoever guarantees me what is between his jaws (kind & wise use of tongue) and what is between his legs (lawful use of private parts), I guarantee him Paradise.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Riqaq, Hadith 6474)
  • “He who is deprived of kindness is deprived of all goodness.” Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Birr wa al-Silah, Hadith 2592

They make people aware of truth by inviting them to observe the signs in nature for right guidance. While inviting, some Prophets migrated with their followers to save faith and lives. Establish Just Social System and Protect the innocents from Injustice.

4.1.2. Defined Individual’s Responsibility:

| “You are the best nation produced for mankind: you enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and believe in Allah.”- Āl-‘Imrān 3:110

4.1.3. Reproduction Laws:

For the safety of new generations and mental health—They regulated gender interactions, defined their social responsibilities, guided lawful sexual relationships, shaped modest dress standards (by restricting body shape & skin-revealing clothes and shameless talks in public to avoid unwanted sexual attractions), and protected family rights (for social and generational safety).

| “Do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse.” — Al-Isrāʾ 17:32

4.1.4. Social ethics & laws:

They taught about communication ethics, kindness for teaching, and prohibiting intoxicants and harmful activities. Safeguarding life, dignity, health, Wealth by educating and punishing with truth and justice, etc.

| “Satan only wants to sow enmity and hatred among you through intoxicants and gambling and to prevent you from the remembrance of Allah and prayer. Will you then desist?” — Al-Mā’idah 5:91

4.1.5. Financial laws:

For fair trades, they restricted unjust/untraceable activities (Interest, Fraud, etc.), and restricted the transactions which create conflicts and injustice (gambling, bets, etc.) and promoted charity (for poverty reduction), economic ethics, etc.

| “Do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly…” — Al-Baqarah 2:188

These messages and laws were compiled in holy books, culminating in the Quran as the final guide.

Reminder of Quran for everyone:

| “Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.’” — Az-Zumar 39:53

| “Except for those who repent, believe, and do righteous deeds — for them Allah will replace their bad deeds with good deeds. And Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.” — Al-Furqan 25:70
